"We're as different as cappuccino and ice cubes..." These radio spots look at things people of different races and groups have in common, and also the ways we can celebrate our differences. But the spots go beyond just promoting diversity and tolerance, they try to crack the roots of racism. The spots tackle tough issues like white privilege; racist policies and procedures in businesses; housing, racist phrases; immigration; prejudice; widening our idea of beauty.
The Mennonite Churches have produced nine 30-second spots being used by radio stations all over the United States on a public service (free) basis. The Mennonite Churches have a deep commitment to becoming an anti-racist church and have undergone training in anti-racism teams at every level of the denomination to work at these issues. Working hard to bring justice and healing in this area is one way the Mennonite churches are trying to follow the Jesus way of love.
